RE: Wi gun deer season to be extended...

23 day' s, that would be awesome!!!
Yeah, heck let' s make it 123 days instead!! Even better, right! Hey, I know! Make it 365 DAYS!! AWESOME!!! And instead of spending all that money on the DNR helicopters loaded with sharpshooters, let hunters shoot from pickup trucks at night with spotlights! That would be really cool! Oh, that' s right...that' s called poaching!

But hey, then the DNR would have their wish: a lower population!

Back to the original subject. I don' t believe a 23 day season would lead to much in the way of an increased harvest. If by some off chance it gets put into place, fine. Except for the chronically unemployed or retirees, it would provide more hunting opportunities for very few.

Besides, you better believe the snowmobilers will be all up in arms over this proposal.

Nick, you' re right. I think the only way to support a 23 day season might be - With a traditional opener and after the 1st 9 days there is a point restriction so the bucks aren' t overharvested as they are now.

I love being qouted by all you deer biologist
Never said I was one. Your point is?...

BTW, if the biologist are as expert on the topic as some maintain, then how did the deer population get so " excessive" that we " need" a 23 day season?

I' ll take up that issue on the thread titled :" Can the WI DNR count deer?"
