I'm in Milwaukee. I can't get up to my property in Northern Michigan during the week as much as I like so there are times when I go up to the Kettles for the AM or PM hunt during the week after or before work! I'll camp up at Mauthe Lake Campground for a week or two as well during the season instead of driving back and forth, especially with the price of gas lately! I probably got in 70+ deer hunts there this past season and killed 3 deer and missed a few...[8D]

I know exactly where you guys are talking. BowHuntingFool, that is an awesome shed! I walked around the fields and back in the swamp this yearbut didn't find any sheds. There was still a lot of snow on the ground late this year making it pretty tough. I bumped into a guy this year that had found a shedthat measured in the mid 70's a couple years ago. That buck was shot the next gun season and they have a pictureof it atParkview General Store. If youhave neverseen it you have to check it out, he was ahuge non-typical.

I hunted that area late season also butI was hunting 100-200 yardsfrom the refuge. I hunted near the river and also on the big ridgeyou can see from GGG. I saw a lot of does andone small eight. There definately was a lot of pressure in that area during the weekend.Do you see a lot of big bucksthere? You said you missed the buck you found the shed to,let's hear the story. That's greatthat you are able to huntduring the week. I've seen the most deer and thebiggest deerduring the week. The weekend seem to die off as the pressure increases.

My buddy Mike and his wife Julie own Parkview, good people! I don't remember seeing the pic, I'll have to look next time I'm there. Have you ever been to Zahns General store right there in New Prospect?? The picture on the counter of the giant 20 pointer is my buddies he shot in 98' gun season. He was sitting on the big hill to the left of the Mauthe Lake entrance if you driving into the campground! He scored in the 190's at a 3.5 year old, so yes there are some bruisers in the refuge! You ever sit on GGG a few yards north of parkview and watch the deer pile into the field behind Mikes, they come right across from the refuge!

If you know Parkview you know these hay bales!

Yeah, those hay bales are notorious. You can just about guarantee seeing deer behind Parkview. I've always wanted to see if I could hunt behind there, but never found out who owned it or if they would let me hunt. I've hunted all around the old Bar N' Ranch, don't know if it changed names lately. That horse farm right next to Parkview. Have seen quite a few back in there too. That whole area is much better during bowhunting that gun. See's a lot less pressure. It seems like anywhere in the Kettle's during gun season is pretty hard hit. So many people.

I bet that pic at Zahn's is the same one! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. You're definately right, Mike and Julie are very nice people. I stop there quite often. Have you guys ever taken any big bucks in the Kettles. I've hunted there for several years and have seen some big bucks but haven't killedany big onesup there. The biggest buck I've shot in the Kettle Moraine was a 110" 9 point off of Double D road south of Auburn Lake. Have you guys everhunted around there?
