Illinois Turkey 1st Season...any success?
Hey folks,
Just wondering if anyone has been outyet for the first Turkey Season in Illinois.I went out for the first time today in St. Clair county and didn't have much luck.Didn't hear or see much of anything so far. It was kind of windy this morning but not enough to have much affect on hearing. I'll try it again tomorrow. Therainy weather is supposed to clear up overnight.
Good Luck,

Hey good luck, Dont hunt turkeys, but saw a gobbler today about 20 miles south of Rockford, picking in a field that was burned a week or so ago. Looked like some hens in the ditch a ways away from him, he was a shooter.

I went out monday and tuesday. Been tough, lots of hens keeping the Toms pretty close. Lots of gobbling though. I enjoy hearing that as much as shooting them. I am going to hit it again thursday and friday.

Been seeing plenty or turks and hearing lots of gobbling, however the wind and rain over the next few days will surely quiet them down a bit. Our season in this part of the state won't open until monday however. That being said we did just have our Youth season last weekend and my 12 year old daughter was able to punch a bird in the face with a 3" 2oz load of Hevi-13 #6's! I don't know who was more nervous..... ME or her? We had atleast 10 birds gobbling and she took one in a group of 5 strutters that were slipping around our Double Bull to get a better look at Pretty Boy and the Hen dekes wearing the Turkey Skinz. Gobble, Gobble,... BOOM! I love it!
Good luck to all you IL turkey hunters this Spring.

Congrats to those who have scored!!
Been hearing gobbling, lots. The bad weather sounds like it is going to stop just in time for the North Season opener. I will be out Tuesday, hoping to smack a 3yr old in the face!
Good luck to everyone, hunt safe!
