Default Illinois Rule for Identifying Tree Stands

Seen in the Illinois DNR Hunting Regs that you are required to mark your tree stands with your information, Name, address and phone number. What is the best way to do this? engraving, or a tag attached to your stand?

A black sharpy marker. I check and most are not marked. I do not mind my name or tag # but my address is another thing.
Theives are more likely to steal it when they see I am from out of town or state. I hate theives, liers and litter bugs.

Wisconsin requires a tag that has your name address and phone number on your stand while hunting public land.

I got a brass tag engraved and then used liquid nails to hold it on. You need a hammer and chisel to get it off.

A paint stick works good.

On public ground, you're better off using a climber. First, more than likely if you leave it, it will disappear. Second, you will have less of a chance for confrontation when a jack*** is sitting in your stand when you arrive. Third, other hunters do there scouting by looking for stands.Welcome to life on public land.
