Capitol Archery- Redford Mi.

We are getting close to being able to open. 32 different 3-D targets will be here next week. New paint is going on this weekend, 30 gallons worth, and the elevated shooting station will be built. The backwall will be in next week as well.

RDHunter has helped me almost every day I have been there working so he gets to shoot the 2nd arrow in the new range.......

Hope to see some of you Michigan fellas come on out and shoot a round or two with me..........

It's about 113 miles from Bay City and about 125 miles from Midland , just take U.S. 23 south to I 96 east and then take the Telagraph exit , est driving time about hour and a half to two hours on the road.

We'd love to have ya come down Michiganhunter 14. I use to live in Saginaw years ago when I worked inside the Dow Plant in Midland. When we were all down building inside there I was driving back and forth to Detroit everyday, not too bad of a drive.

Here I am, sitting in my new office LOL. Been sanding the floor down since I got off of work and we will be ready for the floor scrubbing tomorrow. My backwall goes on order tomorrow morning and will be ready for pick up next week by Friday. Getting down to the wire here. The targets are on their way from Delta/Mckenzie and will also be here by next Friday. Gonna have to put in some late nights here to get her opened up by next week.
Oh wait, it's late now LOL

Hey, can't wait till you guys are done and open up. I live in Troy but am always working at fairlane, park place, and westland malls, so it would be cool to have a nice place to stop by after work. I havent't really been able to find a proshop around here. and Dicks and bass pro just don't seem to work for me. Plus my brother wants to get into bowhunting, so it would be real neat if we had a nice place to go to for shooting. Well good luck on the rest of the building. I'll def. be checking back to see the progress!

TY GoodTimin86,

We had our city inspections of the building yesterday, a few minor hits and we will have our Occupancy Permit. Our targets (38) to start come in Thursday 9-13 and the back foam wall over the weekend. I am still in works of contacting manufacturers to get the pro shop up and running as well.

Email meat [email protected] and I will send out an opening date here in the near future......

Targets are in!!! Although took some hits from the city inspectors and will have to iron those out, nothing major just the usual BS. But, man are these targets cool. I am addicted, I have 38 to start and I want to order 20 more already!!!!

haha,I hear ya. I'm a carpenter and they think of some crazy stuff to nail us on, butI guess it's all for safety so you can't argue that. But WOW! 38 targets!! Nice, can't wait. You say you have an elevated shooting platform, j/w, how high? Kinda tired of getting on my roof to shoot, and having passerby's wonder whats going on. haha. Well, thanks for the update. I'll try to keep checking back

too bad you guys are other side of the state i would love to help and get a job at a place like that...

RE: Capitol Archery- Redford Mi.

Goodtimin86- I have not built the platforms yet but, I believe one will be 12 feet and the other 8 feet. I would try to go 20 but, you would be hitting your head on the bar joists! LOL. I can't believe that a years time is coming up since this project began. Where does the time go? It is almost over now, a bit more physical work to do and than the fun begins........

Tut23- In the future I plan on trying to get everyone that posts in here at the range on the same day to enter up in a trophy shoot. You could make a day trip and meet whoever else shows........

Wouldn't ya just know it....... We had our final inspection last Friday and everything passed except a fire wall...... This wall is 28' by 105'. They said it has to all be redone....... It does not have a 2 hr. burn rating so here we go again......... I'd like to be mad at the inspectors but, when they are right they are right........... Hey, we might get open by next hunting season........ GRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

GoodTimin86 10-09-2007 03:46 PM

RE: Capitol Archery- Redford Mi.

This wall is 28' by 105'. They said it has to all be redone
WOW! 2hr. rating seems awfully high. I think 1hr. is the norm(don't hold me to it though). What do you mean as far as redone? Like totally take apart and start over? Did the inspector tell you what he would except? Another layer of drywall perhaps?

Hey, we might get open by next hunting season........ GRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
haha, lets hope so.

BullRider115 10-09-2007 05:17 PM

RE: Capitol Archery- Redford Mi.

One additional layer will be suffecient. Also we have to frame in the beam up top, double layer that to theroof deck with fire tape or caulk.

After some phone calls today, seems we should be open in just a couple weeks..... Kind of breaks my heart that I will have to go hunting to release some stress LOL......

All good things come to those who wait I guess........ HURRY UP ALREADY!!!!!!!! :D
