RE: ohio deer laws?
archery season is the first Saturady of Oct to Jan 31st
gun season has been only 6 days for a very long time...used to be only 3 ! lol
not including 'urban' our limits are set county by county...some counties have more deer than others....the southeast counties have a 3 deer limit....middle counties a 2 deer limit...and northwest counties a 1 deer limit. You are allowed 3 deer a year and only one of them can be antlered...and you also have to follow the limits per county
they have also established 'urban zones' where we can buy special additional permits to take xtra deer inside high people places
** I almost got him but I refuse to take a marginal shot **

RE: ohio deer laws?
Are Gun season is used to manage our herd. We have had a2week gun season in the past to keep our numbers in check. We have one of the healthest herds in the country.
knobby explained it really well and actually they are pretty easy to understand compaored to other states.
A few things to remember if you ever come here for gun again
<ul>[*][*] You need written permission to hunt private land to be legal[*]
<ul>[*][*]Gun must be pluged and only able to hold 3slugs[*]
<ul>[*][*]No two way radios[*]
RE: ohio deer laws?
i totally agree w/you pokey ohio hunting laws are very confusing. i think that the ODNR does that on purpose so that they can pretty much bust you any time they get the urge.LOL.... if you've lived and hunt here long enough they stay pretty consistent from yr to yr so once you get them figured out you're set. the only thing that changes seems to be the # of tags you can purchase. our "special deer" permits are all the same. you can buy them all at once or one at a time. you can take you're deer in any order but after you get your first buck all other tags must be used to tag does. urban zones were created to give us the oportunity to thin the deer herds close to cities to keep the anti hunting city slickers from hitting them and having their insurance rates go up. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
