Default Sheds and Morels

Now that the season is winding down I am getting pumped up to get out there and find some sheds. I love getting out there looking for sheds but my real passion is morel hunting. Last year was really my first year finding those mouth watering shrooms and I am HOOKED. I find more pleasure finding those than sheds. How many of you in the midwest get out there and morel and shed hunt in the midwest? If so what are your little words of wisdom for finding more morels?

Love mushroom hunting. Find dead elms , find mushrooms. There are several other trees tey will grow under also but a dead elm is #1.

Three years ago i bought 19 acres of woods in southern Illinois that has been known for generations as ground zero for morels. Haven't found one there since. I did have some honey holes when i lived in northern Illinois outside the quad-cities. I could still go there at the end of April and fill up a grocery bag.

That's vicious! If I had to choose between the mushrooms and the bill...I'd take the mushrooms!

Here is a great site morels.com it follows the morels as they start down south and come up this way. There is also a talk forum for each state. I love looking like at Michigan and Nebraska. Where they are finding 20-30 lbs a day and then selling them. Unreal.
