I'm heading up there Thursday. I wish I could take the whole week off, but because of all the stuff that's been happening lately, I had to use up most of my vacation time.
I checked out my spot Saturday and things look promising. There were a ton of droppings and some well traveled runs. I can't wait to get out there opening morning!
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
I know your always up to trying something new, have you ever tried vanilla. I have used it on occasions bow hunting and can't say I have ever had a bad experience - if anything maybe some good ones. A couple years I had a small buck come right in, walk directly under my stand and actually walk right up to the vanilla. If you've got the type of sign in your area maybe a little vanilla in a film container with a cotton ball might just be enought to make something extra currious. Just something to think about. No promises....

I haven't tried using it before, but I'm up for trying anything. I don't know if I'll have the chance to use it this season though. I got some of that free Lethal Weapon scent and I plan on giving that a try. Who knows though? I know I'll be hunting every weekend this season so I'll give it a shot.
Do you use just plain ol' vanilla extract?
Thanks,
Mike

plain ol' vanilla extract - yep that's the stuff.
I've used James Valley scents for some time now. Last year I had a buck get downwind of my scent - he was 75 yrds out and turned dead into the scent and got about 15 yrds of the scent and lets just say the rest is history - or lets just say the rest is dinner.
Keep in mind I've used his and other scents dozens of times in the past and never had any luck - but it was still fun.
I don't use them very often but sometimes I like to try to old hail mary as things get on in the season.

Thanks for the good wishes, I've hunted the U.P. for the last 13 years, Baraga Co. But this year I'm staying down state. Going to try for one of those corn fed bucks in Lapeer Co. Seen a nice 10 pt. two weeks ago, a hot air ballon spooked him out of a thicket, then he was haulin' balls to the swamp. Think I got him figured out? We'll find out this weekend! Good hunting, heh!
