RE: Any INDIANA hunters out there
Okay for you Indiana hunters that think you want to go to Kansas here is what the Whitetail season was for 2002, I would guess that 2003 would be similar.
Muzzelloader
Sept 14-27
Dec 4-15
Archery Oct 1-Dec 3
Dec 16-31
Firearm Dec 4-15
Spcl Season Jan 1-12.
If you were born on/after July 1, 1957 you need to have taken and passed a Hunters Education Course and have your Certificate with you.
Licenses may be purchased online. Easiest way I have seen is to go to www.buckmasters.com, click on hunting seasons, go to Kansas. Hope this helps everyone.

Roger,
My buddy also said activity was very slow in the Kansas gun season. The one he shot was actually the only buck he saw on the trip....but it scored 173" ! We see a lot of movement during archery season, and I' d suggest going then for a bettter quality hunt. I think I' ll be applying for archery 1st choice followed by several rifle selections. I' m afraid the liberal gun quotas started in 1999 are taking their toll now.

Edward. Hunted nortern Sullivan until friend lost his job and then lost the land he rented. Know anyone in Northern Sullivan that would allow hunting? Am from Vigo and hunted South West river bottoms until given to the state and feds for wetlands but that was four years ago and I guess I should get over the loss.

Okay did not read entire thread thru again but heres the harvest numbers for Ill and Indiana.
Illinois
Seasons- Archery Oct1-Jan16 Depending of course on what county or group of counties some are chopped up. Restrictions in counties, and whether there is a firearm season.
Gun 1st Nov 22-24
2nd Dec 5-8
Muzzlelaoader (Rifle Only) Dec 13-15
Handgun Jan 17-19
Total of Harvest 102,336
Indiana Archery Oct 1- Dec 1
Dec 8-Jan 6
Firearm Nov 15-Dec 1
Muzzleloader Dec 8-Dec 23
Total 104.428
Difference 2,092
And ours are easier to understand, and you can hunt anywhere in the state that you wish. You do not hope to get drawn for where you want to hunt. And you did not have to worry about the DNR' s taking the head of that trophy buck that you just got. Ill took one of every six deer heads that were checked in.
