Default Rifle deerhunting in Illinois

I thought it was Shotgun and muzzleloader only for deer. I saw a hunting show today from Illinois and they killed several big deer with centerfire rifles.

I saw a similiar hunt two years ago, but for the life of me cannot remember the name of the "preserve"[:'(].

Just talked to a landowner this evening and found out 3 guys from Alabama were caught taking deer with rifles last season. Incredibly they told the DNR since they were leasing the land, they thought they could use any weapon. The idiots didn't even have any type of deer permits.

Probably some private high fenced preserve. May have been Samsons Mountian.

Pretty sure it was Samsons Ridge or Samsons Whitetail Mountain. They both are high fenced areas about 20 miles from me. It is something like Las Vegas's slogan "What Goes On In the Fence, Stays In the Fence." Basically you can use what ever you want to in the fences.

That was it. Samson's whitetail mountain. I know its painfull to some who love to rifle hunt but it is a big reason deer and Illinois are used in the same sentence. Keep on bowhunting.

Ahh ok, that makes sense. I guess if your low enough to shoot caged deer, why not shoot it with whatever you want?[:@]

I didnt even know there were high fenced hunts in Illinois. That is terrible. I am further disgusted with the direction we are headed in.

Samsons ridge, www.samsonsridge.com, is owned and operated by Len Rudd, who also runs LTR whitetail farm, www.ltrwhitetails.com. That is where he raises and then transports the deer to the high fence. Samsons whitetail mountain is about the same way, he also gets deer from Len Rudd.

Just more info for you all.
