RE: Baiting deer in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan
Pat do you really think having a salt block out is a huge benifit? I would bet you sit over a cornfield or some food source while hunting. Do you think that is pathetic? Unless your 100% stalking I guess none of us are "hunting" right?

RE: Baiting deer in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan
i have a feeder that is just a 30 gallon galvanized trash can and fill it with 150 lbs of corn and have a salt block next to it
i mainly just use it during the summer to make it easier to spot deer but when the crops come off and the acorns fall there is just to much food for the deer to forage through and don't hunt on the feeder that much since i live in Ohio it is legal but michigan and indian dont allow feeders or salt blocks Pat who do you think you are saying that people that hunt over salt or corn feeders are not hunting then you don't hunt off of a corn feild or any natural mineral licks and stay away from funnels or water sources and just stalk woods when you hunt then accoding to you "OH wise PAT" then you are hunting just stay out of the conversation it started out asking if people baited and you go and turn it into a big fight i hate people thinking their way of hunting is the only moral and ethical way to do things. |
RE: Baiting deer in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan
Lay off of Pat, he was replying to the article about fenced in deer hunting here in Indiana, not wether or not its ethical to hunt over salt blocks.
Im not going to say wether or not its "ethical" or not, i have hunted beside corn fields before and over acorns tree. Unfortunately though, i dont have many corn fields back deep in the woods near the thickets where the deer are at. A salt block may not have a huge benefit, but considering it is portable and i can place it anywhere i please, it deffinitely has some benefit. I cant go out and pick up that corn field and move it to where it will benefit me, i have to hunt it where it is. It's against the law in Indiana though and for me thats all that matters. |
