I have hunted Rock Quarry's here or pits here in KS. Excellent areas in attracting small game. Water naturally runs to the low spots. They are a great afternoon getaway for many game animals. Secluded with water. I dont know if this is the kind of area you are going to hunt, but if it is near it should yield many animal species' there. Use your regular hunting tactics and hope for the best.

Most of the federal wildlife areas here in NE kansas do not allow deer hunting on any of the land. What unit did you draw a tag in?

There is more deer in those mined land than you could imagine, but it is so thick you can't walk through some of it. There is 1000's of acres to hunt. I have turkey hunted it and had turkey 20 yards from me and couldn't see them because it is so thick. I am sure there is some real trophies back in the hardest spots to get to.
