Dang, that's one I would really like to go to. But I've got Hunter Safety Education class to do on those days, and my 10 year old is attending.

Plus! I sure hate to miss out on free hot dogs! LOL

I think you mean Don Kisky, not Mark.

I'm gonna try to make it down on Sunday to do some scouting, then stop by to say hello and check things out.

I'd love to make it down there........ but I'm not sure Justin has recovered from our last road trip.

Thanks for calling me back today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW - Mike and I are thinking of cruising down to Effingham next Sunday to take a quick peak around, maybe hang a stand or 2, then catch the Kisky seminar. Interested in joining us??

Also - we need to get to Coon Creek this week. Let's plan on Tuesday or Thursday night, and then another "work party" on Saturday. Make sure Jim is there!!!

I'll be there, I only live about a mile away.

For a guy who's not interested in the 3D Shoot or Big Buck Contest, what else is there that would attract a hunter all the way from Greenville? Do they have any discounts going on as I still need to pick up some gear and may as well take advantage of the trip if there's another reason for me to make it?

RE: IL HUNTERS

Well fellas, that is way to far away for me.

But I wouldn't drive 20 miles to see Stan Potts. I just don't care for the guy. I seen a seminar of his at the Deer and Turkey Classic that was supposed to be about stand placement (I think) and it ended up being about an hour of how I shot my booner with my bow (and took a terrible shot I might add). After that, I just could care less about him.

Hey Justin....How are you guys goin down? Im probably way out of the way for you, but if you were anywhere near by, I was wonderin if you wanted to stop into the shop nearest to me, Central Illinois Archery. MaybeI could finally meet "God" on here. ;)

Justin 08-16-2005 08:37 PM

RE: IL HUNTERS

We're gonna be taken 57 south out of Chicago allllll the way down to Effingham. Plan on leaving here around 4 am, getting there around 8, hanging a few stands at our lease, heading over to the shop to check things out, and being back on the road home by 3-4.

Unfortunately you're about 120 miles out of our way so I don't think it's gonna happen on this trip.

When you're old enough to drive, maybe you can meet us somewhere for milkshakes and hamburgers.

Hey Illini,

They do have everything marked down 20% or more. There are some great deals. Also there are usually a ton of monster bucks there. Usually they have some live animals also. It usually takes a good hour or 2 two see everything. I would say it would be worth the drive from greenville.

Dude, when you hit Gilman (Route 24) you are within 20 miles of me!! Come and see me..on the way home of course!;)

In reality there is a pretty good resteraunt right there if you were in the mood for breakfast.

Is there a place in Gilman called "Fugly's"?

Not that I am a aware of. It is just a truck stop kind of place. Usually pretty good food. When I worked 3-11 and we worked over, we would go over there at about 2 in the morning to eat.

Can't say I have ever heard of a place called Fugly's. Sounds interesting though!

We're on a pretty tight schedule for our 1 day trip, but I'm sure we'll meet up with you sometime this season. We'll be taking another, more extended, scouting/stand hanging trip sometime early next month so maybe we'll work something out for then.

If Dairy King can get permission from his parents, maybe he can take the Greyhound out to meet us.

How far is Buckstop Archery from Effingham? Being a native Hoosier I visit my old home state more than I do anything west of Effingham unless I take in a Cardinals game.

That's it.. you're banned!

Wow, if they had discounts going I was totally unaware. I took a Gerber Hand Saw up to the counter that was tagged at $14.00 thinking that it would be marked down. Definitely walked out the door $15.92 poorer with only a collapsible handsaw to show for it. I was going with the intent of buying a Polartec Facemask.........but not for $75.00. Are you kidding me?

RiverBottomBowHunter 08-22-2005 07:13 AM

RE: IL HUNTERS

Sorry Illini-

This show was not as good as the last couple years. Usually there are more drawings and some better deals then what they had. I did not mean to promote some mis-information.

Illini_Sportsman 08-22-2005 07:10 PM

RE: IL HUNTERS

Oh I'm by no means blaming you. It was my mistake to not ask about a discount before he rang me up at the counter.

RE: IL HUNTERS

After the show on saturday we wentto town. I got tosocialize with don kisky, stan potts(just for a little bit), and scott ?, (the guy who killed the macomb monster last year). There were also a few product reps there. It was a fun evening. They were all nice people.
