Default Lakes closed

Just a word of warning!!!!because of the goverment shutdown all the corp of engineer lake boat ramps are closed. Dr. Rob and marty found out the hard way yesterday. After driving 3 hours down to carlyle dam to shoot bigheads they found the parking lot gated and locked. Like there are any rangers there at any time. The campgrounds were closed as well. Also any state lakes and ramps are open. If this is not rubbing it in i dont know what is. I wonder if 'butt hole's golf courses are closed, if his (our) plane is grounded and secret service shut down??

Basically, this is just blackmail - they could easily leave those boat ramps open. Boat ramps are NEVER staffed, ever. All that happens with ramps is periodic maintenance. These ramps were paid for by all taxpayers and belong to us. I can understand closing the campgrounds, however, as these could very quickly get trashed without staffing.

Just read on facebook I know that is not always true. Well it said that the golf course that is butt hole's favorite is on federal ground and it is 'OPEN' Go figure.

Lake Meredith National Recreation Area in Texas is evidently completely shut down too. It is one of the only major public hunting areas in the Texas panhandle. I'm sure a lot of hunters that can't afford thousands for a lease are pretty upset about it. I don't live there anymore, but I would be if I still did.

You can get on Carlyle lake and on the river below the dam, below the Swinging Bridge as well Just not above the Swinging Bridge. You have to launch at the high water ramp and go down the river and to get on the lake you have to launch at Hazlet or Keyesport.

secondchance,
you couldn't put in on the river below because the water was much too low, they weren't letting a lot of water over the dam at all because of the lack of rain.
