Reelfoot Lake
#1

Heading to Reelfoot Lake, TN. for a shoot on April 14-15...... Any other teams want to go? The Reelfoot Lake Inn is offering rooms for $50...
Here are the rules/regulations:
-The tournament will be held at the Reelfoot Lake Tourism Council parking lot next to the spillway (same place as last year) this includes take off and weigh in.
-It is a 12 HOUR tournament, take off will be at 7pm and weigh in will be at 7am.
-There is a mandatory pre tournament meeting at 5:30 pm to review rules/regulations and answer questions
-We will be cooking food again this year for the teams, we plan to do Boston butts this year, and I may have some Bighead/Silver carp fried up for you guys to try. We will try to eat around 4pm-4:30pm
-The REFUGES are still the only RED ZONES, unless further noted.
-It is a trailering tournament, you can launch at any ramp on the lake.
-There will be no catfish counted during the tournament, you are welcome to shoot them but must keep them separate in a cooler for yourself.
-Shad will not be counted during the tournament.
-Your BIG 10 may not consist of more than 4 GRASS CARP
-Fish disposal will be provided
Then they posted update to the shoot which is:
NUMBERS DIVISION:
-Only 2 grass carp may be weighed in/counted, and no boat may shoot more than 3 total, so you can cull 1.
-Only 20 buffalo will be counted
-Shad WILL be counted, so go crazy on them.
BIG 10 DIVISION:
-Only 2 grass carp may be weighed in, and no boat may shoot more than 3 total, so you can cull 1.
-You may weigh in a stringer of 10 buffalo
We are doing this in response to several complaints we had from the public/commercial fisherman last year. Also to better promote bowfishermen as conservationists. The last thing I want this tournament to do is drastically decrease the buffalo/grass carp population on the lake. There are some really good fish up there to shoot. The majority of the fish shot are always gar anyway so this shouldn't affect the numbers shooters to much.
I'm not saying we have and/or will hurt the population, but the last thing I want is for bowfishing on Reelfoot to come under heavy fire from the public.
