Another new Iowa record, shot from a sand pit near the Cedar River near Cedar Rapids. 79 pounds 4 oz. I have seen pictures but I don't know the name of the guy or if he would mind me posting his mug on the internet, so I won't share. Suffice to say it is a hog. Darin's still beats it by more than 13 pounds, though. I do think we will make it over a hundred one of these days. If we don't hit that hundred pounder within a few years, it will be tougher to do, though. These giant boys have been around a while and did not have to compete with a bunch of siblings.
I did tell you that Darin's fish made a liar out me, right? I thought from the scale that it would be about 12 years. Vertebra is different and pretty obvious the fish was 25 years old, maybe 27. I got the 12 of the first 13 right, but on the scale the annuli were so mushed together at the edge, they just were not visible past 12.
