Default Wild Weekend Weather

I think Tim Nuss and his trad event got rained out this weekend at Clinton Lake! Lots water up north. I had some leakage in by basement. I'm still drying out.

Lots of high water around Plainfield.

many homes with riverfront property have water several feet up into their main level living space. A few roads are closed, and about 6 more bridges are being watched closely because the water is rushing by within a foot of the roadway. Pretty intense.

Plainfield was calling around for volunteers for sandbag duty for the rivers, but I think it was a lost cause with how fast the level was rising. If I didn't have an all day obligation, I would have been out there. Terrible for those in the way.

Timmy and the rest of the Dingo-pack stayed dry yesterday (Sat.). We stopped over there yesterday afternoon. It just started to drizzle around 9pm. Hopefully they packed up shortly thereafter or they may have washed away. [:-]

Fields are flooded and I think there are a bunch of flooded basements around here. A couple of houses in Stanford look like they have moats. []

Here are some pictures of my basement. Not a surpriseas it's a 135 year old farm house.

Keeping the sump pump busy.

Ourown basement fountain. (water coming up through the floor.. neato!)

Our basement waterfall. (water coming in from the cellar door area)

Heard on the news that there was over 8" of water that fell between Rockford and Chicago. Add to that all the rain that came straight up from central-Illinois and you can imagine all the water levels rising south of here for a few days to come yet. My sump has been going off about every 15-20 seconds for almost 2 days straight. It finally slowed down about 3 or 4 hours ago. I'm really glad I set myself up a back-up system last year. My basement is fully finished so I was pretty nervous for a while there.

Hope everyone is doing okay.

Well Dingos are a tough group...

We stopped by for a few hours and got a special treat. Mr. Krohn letKendall shoot a Howard Hill "Big Five" kids longbow.
Here's a picture of John with his bow.

Notice the limbs. They're about the size of 2X6's

At this point I thinkK ispulling about 60#

I like the look on everyones face here.

Bill Secker (holding the bow) made the best group.

Finally freed up about 8 last night, so I went overto help fill sandbags, and get them loaded into pickups and dump trucks. Worked till 1 am, and still made it to work in the morning.

You just KNOW they've been letting the mechanical fish swim around down there. Slim would be jealous.

I noticed the arrow!

I'm gonna guess the draw-weight is close to 90 lbs. That arrowis almost 3/8" in diameter.
