Wouldn't it be great if we had about 200 acres of our own to bowhunt for deer? Anybody interested in investing in some land in central Illinois?

When I win the lottery, I will buy 500 acres somewhere in the golden triangle (Adams, Pike, Brown counties) andlet club members hunt for free. It would be awesome.

Judd, today I went out to the public land area near where I live (my usual hunting destination). There weren't too many trucks in the parking lot but when I got within 200 yards of the ridge that I hunt, there were 3 hunters in stands that I could see. It's nearly a mile from the parking lot.

I turned around and hunted a different ridge. Didn't see anything. I looked at the sign-in sheets and nobody has been seeing anything. [&o]

Owing some private land sounds great.

Do you hunt around Clinton Lake?

I hunted Clinton a couple times last year. I had some bad luck there as far as hunters setting up right next to me or walking around me. I think it was kind ofa fluke. It's such a big area that I just managed to be unlucky. I decided to stay closer to homeand have hunters walk all around me. (Mackinaw is only 10-15 minutes away vs. Clinton which is almost an hour)

Clinton is a good area. It's full of deer. I just haven't spent enough time scouting for deer there. I've spent plenty of time on the water tho'.

Uh, that would be awesome indeed.
I like the way you dream.

I would have to get some closer to home.

I know how you feel Judd. I went out sunday. I set up in a perfect spot for the wind and had 2 guys walk almost completely around me looking for a doe one of them hit. Too bad I was out of idiot-tags...

I've figured out that I've spent right around $500 on gas this season. I REALLY need to find a closer place. Or at least a place a little more produtive, to justify spending the money on gas.

Maybe some of us should consider going in on a lease somewhere close.

The lease idea is worth pursuing; I think they are hard to come by or are very expensive. I'll try searching the web to find something.
