I was hoping Slim would make it on here. He shoots Carlyle. I hear it has tons of carp. Also tons of stumps. I've been told that you have to be extremely careful in the stumpy shallows.

There are bigheads below the spillway. Don't try shooting from shore by the dam, you'll get run off.

At the launch below the spillway there are lots of gar and buffalo in the backwater right there.

I've only been there a couple of times, so unfortunately I can't be more helpful.

I have heard that the rocks are the place to be. I also heard that you can go about anywhere in that lake and kill fish. Just what I have been told.

Drifter,
Below the dam is a great place to shoot, but you will get run off. Been there done that two times. What a shame, there are some nice gar, and big heads. One of the few places where you can shoot them during the day time. We have done just about everything to get it opened up. It is poor interpretation of their own rules.

Drifter,
All I know about Carlyle, watch out for stumps, look for fish on the rip rap, bring lots of barrels and have someplace to get rid of a big pile o fish.

Good Luck and let us know how it went.

Thanks for the update drifter. Some of us use a piece of PVC for small/medium boats. Glue a cap on both ends and it'll float if you accidently drop it overboard. You might also want to drill a hole through one end for a loop of rope (about 1/4"). That makes it easier to hang on to.
