des plaines

i know it is late in the year but have any of you ever tried walking the banks of the des plaines near channahon. is it legal. i was just wondering because you could do some damage on the carp in the spring and the gar later on from the bank. right around the gravel bars at the east end of the bay. just a thought. i am planning some strategies and locations for next year.

You would think, but alas I have not investigated.
I was introduced to that spot after I got my boat, and haven't checked it out from shore. Most of it is pretty dense with trees and brush, but I know where you're talking about. Not sure who owns the land over there.
Since it's outside of town, not in a public facility, and not on a roadway or bridge, it's probably just fine, unless it's private property. The county and state have no laws against bowfishing, unlesslisted as restrictedin the fishingregs in the site specific stuff. Rivers are pretty wide open in that regard.
We'll have to find out. Let me know if you learn anything before I do.
