Illinois Bowfishing Championship Results

I'm working on getting pictures and results posted.
It was a great shoot. We had great weather and some really, really nice fish were taken. Everybody shot fish, and we estimate 4000-5000 lbs of fish were taken over the weekend.
As usual, it was a real challenge to find the needed combo of fish to get 25 fish to weigh. Thesecond place team only weighed 22 fish and yet still had 212lbs!
1st place team had 275 lbs!!
More in a bit.....

Christine, Just was wondering if any one was able to get a final count of fish. It did add up to 1338 lb's of weighed in fish. As there was 4 teams that did not turn in any fish. and all the other 11 teams had lots of fish that did not get weighed in. For our part, it was a blast. Always fun to see Mr. Extreme wack one. He really gets pumped up.

I'm keeping you all in suspense.
(Actually I'm trying to get some 'real' work done.)
Remember the Steak and Dog shoot is August 25-26th at Shelbyville.

Boat inspections courtesy of the US Power Squadron.

CPO Siddens was nice enough to come out and give us our pre-tourney pep-talk.

Alex with a nice grassy.

Gathering up for the weigh-in.

Lonnie manned the barrels.

Big gar taken by the Indy Boyz. I think the biggest was about 55".

Snuffy and Jake took three nice grassies (biggest 49lbs) and some great buffs. (Jake is a newbie too!)

1st place team, Davey, Alex andLuke took 275 lbs with their big 25.

Jake and Mark (Snuffy) took 2nd with 212 lbs in 22 fish.

Local boys Roger, Brian and Matt took third.

Matt took the biggest buffalo and won a gift certificate to Draves Archery.

Snuff took Biggest carp gift certificate.

..and $150.00 for biggest overall fish.

Alex Grable won the gift certificate for biggest gar.

Slim's team won the S%*t-out-of-luck award. (a package of TP) The bowfishing gremlins didn't miss this tourney. Slim had to practically rebuild his fan and his generator. This took up a lot time and then Kristina decided to swim for a bit instead of shooting. ;-)
Still, they managed to take 94 carp which got them the Most Carp plaque.

Here's the talley board. Everybody got fish, but not everybody bothered to weigh in after seeing some of the huge fish in the barrels of the first couple teams that weighed in. Sissies.

You'll see Rob took the liberty of adding a quill to the carp and trying to DQ the CIRFCU team. HEY! (just 'cause we weighed in more fish... ha!)

Thanks to everybody that made it out! A big thanks to CPO Scott Siddens, DNR staff Lonnie, Biologist Mike Mounce,Site SuperRichardGlazebrook and all the others who helped us put on the tournament at Lake Shelbyville. Thanks to Todd M for the doughnuts and not letting me forget that you are the sexy one.
Thank you AMS Bowfishing, Muzzy, F&D Archery, Backwater Bowfishing, AimLow Productions, Draves Archery, Cajun Archery, Camp Chef and Huntingnet.com for helping us make these shoots great!
Door prizes.

Anybody get any pictures of the dinner? I guess I was too busy eating to snap pictures. Thanks to Rob and Todd for cooking up half a cow's worth of burger and all the brats.
I hear the pies were excellent, thanks Mike!
If anyone has any other pictures please post them or email them to me and I'll get them online.

I couldn't believe how big those gar were! Alex and Luke said they cruised around for about 6 hours looking for these things to surface. And they were just cruising open-water.

Awesome job everybody! Nice fish! Holy snikies, the size of those grass carp and gar!!!!! I'm insanely jealous!
Maybe someday I'll get a real job where I work Monday through Friday, so I can participate in some up these events.
Maybe soon!
