Well we're back... finally.
We didn't get any big fish at Guntersville but we were able to weigh-in 20 fish! But you know that when you bring gar to a weigh-in you're not going to be taking home the big prize. :DNot that we were planning on it anyway.
It was a lot of fun seeing all the teams and their boats. If you've never seen a bunch of airboats take off at once, you need to go to this shoot or the worlds in July. It can only be compared to standing behind a jet engine in a rain storm. :D
Hopefully we can the rest of the pictures up soon.
Until then it was good to finally meet some more of the BFUSA folks for the first time and get re-aquainted with many more.
We did stop at the Tennessee river on the way back. Christine was itching to shoot a fish bigger than her 21# MO carp. We were able to do that with a 33# 5oz bighead. I was able to find a 36# 15oz fish as well.(that means I get to retain my "champion of the world" status )We saw some that would have gone even bigger but they always showed up when we were busy with other fish. We were also able to get some force feeding shots. We even saw a dogfish which I didn't get to the boat. [:@]I did kinda ruin his day though.
More later...

Muzzy boats...

kicker motor boat (there were several of these)

Pontoon boat contingent.
Mr Dan's sweet rig.

Mr Dan checks out the CIRFCU. It looks like it has a fan in this picture. That's Kain's big airboat behind it.

Of course there were a zillion more boats. 81 teams were at the Muzzy. [:o]

We got first place in the Pontoon Boat division. Mr Dan came in second. (that is all you need to know.) ;)

Actually, we came in 50th place (dang, I thought it 36th place), which given the rigs and shooters that we were up against, isn't too bad. I believe Team 'Catastrophe' came in 18th place (Luke, Joseph and Alex). Chris Followell's team shot at least one fish but they didn't weigh in.

The fish were tough to find. The top teams got great fish, but there were a lot of teams turning in spotted gar to get their 20 and lots of teams that didn't have 20 to weigh in. Mike Bommer got an 84lb grassy and other great grassies and still came in 5th. [:-]

Mike's grass carp. (that's him laughing)

Joseph and Joe Nichols shooting the breeze.

Bommer put on a great shrimp boil at the Muzzy Meet and Greet on Friday. Mr Dan fried up some tasty catfish too.

The shrimp that Yedor brought up.

Mmmm...

(there's 15lbs of shrimp in that bucket, just one bucket of a whole bunch that got boiled up)

Alex was Mr PR-guy at the meet and great. :)

Bryan Hughes (WarEagle) and Gar-Maam at the Backwater Bowfishing booth.

Mr Dan's Passing onthe Traditionbooth.

Part of the CIRFCU strategy was to get into places the taller or deeper drafting boats couldn't go.

Here's a low bridge..

We can just squeak through.

Obviously, that wasn't a winning strategy. Not only could a bunch of the smaller boats get into the same waters... but there were hardlyany fish back in those areas. [&o]

The trick was to cover a lot of water...and to know the lake. I think some boats used up over 40 gallons of gas in that 12 hours.

Speed's speedy airboat.

(One gallon.... two gallons.... three.) :)

I heard that some of the guys actually could chase down those skittish grass carp and buffalo.
Look at the size of those fish!

Mark Land concentrates...

Even with all the teams weighing in, things went smoothly. Kudos to Mark and all the Muzzy helpers!

Part of the prize table. Lots of goodies.

(Muzzy donated a bunch of stuff for door prizes for our State Shoot at Shelbyville too!)
