Congrats! That looks like one heck of a big doe.

I watched a 2 1/2 year old half-rack 8-point chase a doe all over Hell and back yesterday and again today in one of my bowhunting spots (eastern Kane...no gun season). I can't remember the last time I saw chasing the fist weekend of December. I think I may head up to WI next weekend and take my recurve out with the rifle boys in the CWD Zone.

When I crawled out of bed at 4am (noelectricity... house dark and cold) I thought of you Steve and how you would give me crap if I didn't go out.

At 9am when I was an icicle I thought about calling you and telling you you suck for making hunt in this weather... [8D]

When I tagged her, I thought you'd be proud. :)

BTW, for the record... it's certainly my first Illinois gun kill. I've killed several deer in WI with a rifle. ;)

Jason, I heard some other folks say they are still seeing deer chasing. It is weird.

I'm still going to try for some late season bowhunting. (brrr)

She's a nice sized doe. Kendall dragged her to the trail and the site manager came out with his atv to haul her back to the truck. :D (otherwise it would be a one mile drag)

I didn't bring my camera, so I didn't get a decent 'field' photo, but at least I got some HNI advertising in... ;)

BTW, isn't anybody going to make fun of my hat??

Well, at least you thought of me....but I am proud of you. It was freakin' cold out, and I know you're not a morning person, so that must have been really REALLY hard for you! But if you called,I would have laughed at you and told you to stay another hour. :D

Let me rephrase; congratulations on your first Illinois gun-deer.

Now, will you please save me a steak for when I come over and fix your doors? Or maybe some of your chili?

Congrats on that big old girl, and even cooler that you got a successful stalk on her, even if it was a short one (It sounds like she really snuck up on you anyway, so you might only get half points). :D

No way, that has to be wrong. Must have been 4PM. If you were up at 4am, it's because you didn't go to sleep the night before.

I've thought about doing the standby hunting thing, but I would be too bummed out if I didn't get in and it was too late to go anywhere else. [:@]

I love how you guys are you own little cult in here, refusing to post anywhere but the safety of your own forum despite the fact that these are neither fish, nor were they killed with a bow.

I must be the oddball here because (aside from obvious reasons) I have posted almost 200 times on Huntingnet since I got my first deer of the season in late October, and the vast majority of them weren't even in this little corner.

Hmmm....Illinois Bowfishers Cult.
It might work, but then we would have to have weird rituals and stuff.
