Well Ole Snuffy scored also with his 50cal. smoke pole today. It was not quite a deer but a nice coyote. Hard to believe but that ole .50 cal dropped it in its tracks. Nice shooting Snuffy.

RE: Bowfishers with guns!

Okay, those of you who know me won't believe this, but I got up early on Saturday morning (4am) and went out to Mackinaw for the standby shotgun hunt. I was able to get in without waiting. It was a whole 8 degrees at 5am.

I trudged outinto woods to enjoya beautiful and icy sunrise. At 9am I was pretty well frozen. At 9:30am I had to move around to get some feeling back in my feet. (at one point I actually froze to the tree I was leaning against) Anyhow I slowly and as quietly as possible crept along to see another ridge. I had made it about 30-40 yards in a half hour. I looked back to where I had been standing and there's a big doe there.

She sniffed around and then started circling. I think she was looking for me. I tiptoed through the crunchy ice/snow to a tree. She never saw me and I got a 30-35 yard shot at her. I still managed to be off by about 5". [:o][:@] But here she is. It's the first deer I've ever shot at with a shotgun.

(It's not a big buck, but somebody has to shoot some does... :D:D:D)
