It looks like it will be 'challenging' weather with a high of 56 degrees and a chance of rain.

Of course last year I'm not even sure it made it up to 50 and there was a killer wind and yet we still shot fish.

The good news is carrying around all of your fish might not be such a problem with the cooler weather.;)

Everyone bring rain-gear, and maybe a change of clothestoo. We might shoot so few fish, one could make a big difference, and I know I ain't knockin off early cause my feet are wet.

I can't wait!! I don't care if I win or even place, as long as I shoot one more fish than Christine.

Even with the temps being cool, we should still get some if the wind holds off. It'll just be more like regular hunting. :D

I'm going for "most improved team" this year since we got into a couple of dead spots earlylast year while the rest of ya were filling your buckets.

Let me get this straight as we are down to one more day. We are having breakfast at the Cattle clubon Rt 6. Do we ask for a banquet room? were reservations made? I figure we should be there by 5:45am. Will be leaving at 2:30 from here. Plus on sunday we have to be out at our archery range at 5:30 for our club shoot. Sleepless weekend. have to go to work on monday to rest up....johnny b.

There is no reservation at the cattle club, guys.
They do expect us right at 6am, and they know we could be a crowd.

Just show up and watch for each other.
For you new guys, we'll be the rowdy bunch of guys sitting witha girl that won't put her coffee cup down.

See ya'll there bright and early, or at least early.

I sure wish I could be there but will be doing a two day canoe and camping trip, probably in the rain. Nothing like sleeping in a wet tent in 40 degrees. Have fun and take lots of pics, look forward to all the stories.
Rob

That's an odd place to park a low pressure system.
Every fish is going to count folks.

At least we're notgoing to be inGreen Bay. They are getting Snow!

Maybe that's not such a bad idea. I mean, considering the circumstances..

Y'all have fun. My wife and I are going house shopping tomorrow. Got my eye on one that's waterfront. Maybe I'll be able to go bowfishing off the deck. :D

Crap Jason, I was hoping you were gonna make it. Give me a call and we'll get together somewhere on the Fox soon.

Sure you guys don't want to play first carp shot wins? I'd hate to make the rest of you suffer since Steve and I are going to unveil our wet, cold, soggy, no sunshine techniques.

......We do have wet, cold, soggy, no sunshinestrategies right Steve........?

No gill nets allowed. :D

No explosives allowed either.

A big heat lamp might be okay. ;)

Houseshopping?!You should be out in the cold, the rain.Fighting the elements, ingnoring the stinging wind, the aches... to rid our waters of thenasty carp.
Instead you're going to do some cushy shopping. At least call it house 'hunting'.

RE: Hennepin shoot

I hope everyone had a great day shooting lots of fish. My wife, daughter and I went house hunting (bold text for Christine's benefit). The first place we looked at was the waterfront property. Right off the bat we walked the property, and look what my daughter found at the edge of the creek. Past it's prime, but there were a bunch of them. It sure wouldn't break my heart to walk out back and catch a dinner of fresh fish and morrels.

Aside from that, nice creek, great lot...horrible house. Too much "hillbilly renovation" for me. The guys who remodeled this place should have his tool belt taken away. The problems with the house just weren't enough to make up for the great location...so back on the hunt we go.

Mark S 05-13-2006 08:22 PM

RE: Hennepin shoot

Well, the weather didn't cooperate as well as we would have liked, but I think everyone had fun. That's the most "slow" walking I've done in a long time. And I think those soggy, wet, and cold weather tactics worked. I'll let someone more official post results.

Well i must say first.....Congrats to IB members Steve and Mark on winning the hennipen tourny slow wasnt the word for it.....but i see cold wet weather tactics paid off for them.........

I made the mistake of saying the weather couldn't be any worse than last years.... Oops.

Never tempt mother nature. [:-]

Anyhow, I had a great time and it looked likea good time was had by all. Again, Grant put on a great tournament. I'm already planning on attending next year's event.... and next time I'm not going to get outshot by Steve, Mark, Chris and his Dad, Snuffy and JohhnyB and everybody else who shot a fish. :D

I'll try to get some pictures up today.

Grant, I think you really did put on a good shoot. I have not been this tired in a very long time tho. The shoot was very well organized, you can tell when it started on time, and ended up on time as well. Would have liked to have shot more fish (where did i hear that before). Again nice job and see ya next year. Was alsonice to see old friends and put some faces with the screen names..Will be nice to float around on a boat next weekend. weather's got to be better....johnny b.

Thank you Grant for putting on an excellent event!! I'm already looking forward to next year! This was my very first tournament of any kind by the way. I think I'm hooked......

RE: Hennepin shoot

Thanks KBI. It was good to see you, and Johhny B, Carpsniper and all the rest of you guys that I haven't seen in a while again. That was the toughest conditions I've ever bowfished under. But it sure was fun spending time with everyone, from breakfast before to lunch (or I guess we could say dinner) after. There's alot of good people associated with this group.

Thanks Grant for putting on another great shoot. I hope you're around next year to do it again. I'm planning on being there for sure. Everything was very well-organized well-planned-out. You did an excellent job.

And thanks to my partner Mark S. I hope we'll get a chance to shoot together again soon.

Well I sure would like to see how the Hennepin canal looks on a nice day. Congrats to the winners and thanks to Grant for hosting a great event.

I was talking to a local after last year's shoot, and he told me that on the right day, the carp are so thick thatit's tough to miss, and doubles are very possible. Maybe we should just line everybody up on the shore and launch a couple of group volleys into the middle to see what we get.
