RE: F/S MAG 951 lumens flashlight
I AM BACK FROM THE HOSPITAL !!!!
All went even better than I expected!!! I had have triple by-passes done in '82 and '95, so I was expecting open heart surgery because I knew I had a collapsed by-pass. But the Angioplasty and the placement of two stemts on a clogged vein, solutioned my problem. I still have the collapsed by-pass but were considered not important enough for open heart surgery as the adjacent area is well irrigated. Besides, I am running out of veins, as the legs' veins and the mamarian glands veins were harvested in the previous by-passes. I am doing well, and building more flashlights!! Thanks, white bear |

RE: F/S MAG 951 lumens flashlight
THE BEAR CUB
181 LUMENS FOR ONE HOUR AND A HALF IT IS MADE ON THE "HOST" OF THE MAGLITE 2 "C" LITHIUM ION RECHARGEABLE TECHNOLOGY Not long ago Mag come out with his XENON MAGNUM STAR for the 5 cells flashlight. That lamp gives the regular Maglite 5 D cells from the Krypton bulb 119 lumens a WOOPING jump to 181 lumens!!! NOW, I HAVE ADAPTED THIS BULB (That is available anywhere) to work in the smaller of the light that Maglite made, $120.00 SHIPPED I can get the same voltage than the 5 D cells provide this bulb, just by going to the lightweight LITHIUM IONS batteries that I use in this new light. Both lights perform the same in throw and intensity, but the BEAR CUB produces a much flatter rate of discharge and the light is constant bright thru the run time. If you need more than the one hour and a half of runtime in the field, you can carry two of the LITHIUM ION RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. No battery carriers to deal with, you just drop two batteries down the tube like recharging a regular flashlight. AND IT IS RECHARGEABLE, SO FREE TO RUN AS LONG AS YOU WANT. The throw of the new BEAR CUB is much longer than the Surefire C-3 (200 lumens, with the P-91 lamp, 20 minutes run time and $6.00 in batteries every 20 minutes) THIS LIGHT IS PROVIDED WITH HIS OWN LITHIUM ION CHARGER, AND IS COMPLETLY TURN KEY READY TO USE IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT MY NEW BEAR CUB, PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT: jcharles11784(at)yahoo(dot)com Best regards white bear __________________ |

This is the Cadillac system ![]() And this is the Rolls Royce system ![]() I offer three RC chargers; The FAST charger (1 1/2 hours) ![]() The SLOW RC charger (4 1/2 hours) And the Maha 777 plus II ( 3 hours) that can also charge ANY battery (camcorders, notebooks, phones, two way radios etc) and any chemistry. RE: F/S MAG 951 lumens flashlight
The inquiry I get most often about my MEGA lights, such as the MAG 951, is how much more powerful they are compared to the regular police or military flashlight.
The Magcharger and the Stinger have been for many years the standard from which all the others lights are judged. The Magcharger has been upgraded in the last few years from 30,000 candlepower to 40,000, and the Stinger has come out with the Ultra Stinger, that has upgraded the candlepower of the Stinger from 40,000 to 75,000. Last year I bought one of the Magchargers, and just now I bought one of the Ultra Stingers of 75,000 candlepower, to test them again my rechargeable MAG 951 II. And to represent the military high end flashlight, I included the Surefire M-6 with the 500 lumens lamp. Of course, this light is the darling of Special Forces and many SWAT teams; it uses six 123’s batteries for a 20 minutes run time. The target is the tool shed with the beam shots coming from 43 yards away, while my camera is placed at 15 yards from the target. Here are the lights, from left to right: Surefire M-6, Ultra Stinger, Magcharger and my red MAG 951 II (this time with the 3 plastic battery carriers ~$200~ 951 lumens version.) ![]() Magcharger, 40,000 candlepowers, 200 lumens ![]() Ultra Stinger, 75,000 candlepowers, 290 lumens ![]() Surefire M-6 (500 lumens) this light uses six 123's batteries for a 20 minutes run time. ![]() MAG 951 II, 951 lumens 45 minutes run time, rechargeable. ![]() The MAG 951 II will run more than twice as much and will outout twice as many lumens as the Surefire M-6, and do it in a rechargeable model. RE: F/S MAG 951 lumens flashlight
I have bought the Borealis by Black Bear and I must say this is a VERY powerful flashlight. The only other handheld light that I have operated that even came close to this was the Streamlight UltraStinger. The UltraStinger was around 290 lumens and I was impressed by that light, but the Borealis is in a league of its own.
My brother has a regular Maglite 3D and the images below will show how it compares to the Borealis. ![]() That was a little size comparison. The Borealis is based on the Mag 3D. If you ever damage the exterior of the flashlight, you can always change the body with another Maglite. Black bear could’ve used a MagCharger host but it is a much more expensive flashlight to use as a host. Why pay $80 when you can pay $20 for a replacement body? Also you can see that I bought the optional stainless steel Crenellated bezel and quick swivel detach end. The bezel really adds a unique look to it, but it is also an effective weapon when needed. The tip of the bezel contains many sharp corners and edges. I also ordered the quick detachable swivel, but I replace it with the hand strap of my camera. It is my personal preference and is the main reason why I paid extra for the options. Again, it adds a unique look to it. ![]() On the left shows the regular Mag 3D and the right is the Borealis. As you can see, there is a HUGE difference. The Borealis is something you have to see in person. My camera dims a bit when trying to focus on the beam, but on the bottom of that, I showed how powerful it really is that it can literally light up your room. The Mag can’t do that. ![]() More examples on how powerful the light can be. The top photographs are in pitch black (duh) and the bottom are the Borealis blasting light into that scene. The left column is an outdoor picture. I presume that tree outside my house is 7-9 stories high. The right column is me at the bottom of my 25-step stairs. As you can see, it can illuminate the whole room and the ceiling is 2 stories high. ![]() Here is a park photograph. Again, you have to be there in person. My camera could not really capture the intensity of the Borealis. My friend stood at the end of this basketball court about 30 yards away. It can hit the pole, but you can see that the tree (about 50-55 yards away) can be illuminated as well as the building behind that (about 65 yards away)! Even thought this is a great product, Juan (black bear) is a great person to work with. I have sent him almost 20 e-mails since I bought my light from him about two months ago. Most of the e-mails were questions or concerns that I have and Juan has replied to every one of them with great detail and attention. I am very proud to have bought the Borealis. Where else can you find a 1050 lumen flashlight with 45 minutes of run time (with Rolls Royce battery holder) at the price of 260 dollars? That is great bang for the buck. Please consider Black Bear’s products!! You won’t regret it! |
RE: F/S MAG 951 lumens flashlight
Hi guys,
I have received several P.M.'s asking specific questions about the BOREALIS. I will post them here for all to see. Thank you all for your interest. BULB LIFE: About 35 hours (just about the same as Surefire lamps) RUN TIME: 45 minutes LIFE OF THE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES: 1,000 recharges, much more than 500 hours of use from one pack. REPLACEMENT COST OF PACK: $30.00 for the nine optimized batteries (two forming charges and matched for capacity) REFLECTORS TYPE: Smooth (for maximum throw) Orange Peel (for more side spill) Light Stippled (for more flood light) and Medium Stippled (for even more flood light) I will install your choice of reflector. WHAT IS THE HOST ADVANTAGE? When your light is all dented and scratched or if you just are bored with the color, a new "host" will cost you less than $20.00 and ten minutes of your time will exchange the special parts. ![]() For more information, contact me at: jcharles11784(at)yahoo(dot)com Best regards white bear |

TODAY IS THE OPENING OF MY NEW WEB SITE FINALLY A ORGANIZED PLACE TO VIEW MY LIGHTS INCLUDING THE MIGTHY BOREALIS THANKS MY FRIENDS IN THIS FORUM FOR THEIR SUPPORT BEST REGARDS TO ALL WHITE BEAR |
RE: F/S MAG 951 lumens flashlight
In honor of White bear’s new website, I thought I might give my thoughts on my recent purchase with the Bear Cub.
Why the Bear Cub? The size of the Bear Cub is something that really attracted me. The Maglite 2C host is compact and light. It feels like an extension of your hand. I do carry lights with me for my night classes and this fits nicely in my bag. ![]() As you can see, it is much shorter than a Maglite 3C. However, not only is it shorter, but the diameter of the body is smaller too. Now how does it perform against a Maglite 3C? I did a wall shot to illustrate the character of the light and how much light is able to illuminate a room. The Maglite on the left produces very little light compared to the blinding white beam of the Bear Cub on the right. It produces enough light throughout the room to take a photo without a flash. Compare that to the Maglite that can barely give me light to produce anything. Now let’s look at some outdoor photos. ![]() I was aiming at a tree that across my house. I believe my aim was about four-five stories high. The top photo is the Maglite 3C. There is very little light. The bottom right corner shows the Bear Cub throwing out light like there is no tomorrow. It is a very nice, tight white beam, but what is the photo to the left of that? It illuminates more surface area but with a less intense hotspot. That shot used a light stippled reflector that White bear provides as an option. ![]() The light stipple (right) hole is definitely smaller to reduce loss of light and the texture of the reflector is designed to diffuse light to produce a nice, even beam. The only drawback is that the light will not throw as far. This reflector is the same high quality reflector used in all of the other White bear flashlights. ![]() Speaking of options, it doesn’t end there. You can also order a Crenellated bezel with it to customize the look of your Bear Cub. Not only does it look cool, but the sharp points and edges also make it a potential weapon. Now that the Crenellated bezels are made out of aluminum, it is much lighter and you won’t know it is there. It really adds a nice touch. ![]() Contact white bear for even more info. He is one of the nicest people that I have met and I am glad to be one of his customers. Visit the website for more info! |
RE: F/S MAG 951 lumens flashlight
Spotlights Versus BOREALIS flashlight
Except for some HID’s barely portable lights like the “Beast” from Surefire (a $3,000 light working on 20 disposables batteries, outputting 2,000 lumens) and others HID’s that don’t qualify as flashlights as they are considered “searchlights” and take quite a few seconds to get them going, no other flashlight that you can get in the store can compete in lumens output with the BOREALIS 1050 lumens flashlight that is made in the 3 D format. So the question arose as how the BOREALIS will compare with an incandescent two million candlepower spotlight. I have a closet full of spotlights of 15 years ago, lights that plugged into the cigarette lighter of a car and at that time were state of the art at 250,000 and even 500,000 candlepower’s. Later the portable, rechargeable 500,000 and one million spotlights come about and of late you can get a good spotlight by LSI or Q. Beam of 2 million candlepower. How does the little 2” reflector and 35 watt bulb compare with the monstrous 5 ½ inches reflectors and 50 to 75 watts bulbs in those spotlights? To find out, I did a round up of what I have in the house: a couple of 1 million Q Beam I had disposed off when the batteries ran out of life, but I have a brand new LSI Nite Tracker 2,000.000 million candlepower, a 1 million spotlight from Aid Auto Stores and a new PN 46224 5 million from Heartland America catalogue. Actually this is the second one, because I returned the first as the light don’t seem to my eyes to output more than a million, the second is still delivering the same output, so maybe where they come from the candlepower’s have a different value than the American ones! I gave all the spotlights and my light a good charge to run a fair test. The shootout was made against a tool shed at 30 yards and my appreciation of what I saw is this: The Aid auto Store spotlight seems to be a thru and thru one million candlepower light as the output is well matched against what I have seen before from other one millions. The BOREALIS will overpower this spotlight plenty, washing the beam of it when the BOREALIS beam is made to coincide. The second spotlight I tried was the LSI Nite tracker, 2,000.000 million; this is a great light (but also great in size and weight) and is obviously what the BOREALIS has to compete for. I have found that the BOREALIS beam is more useful than the LSI as the spread is wider (more floodlight), I can see much more landscape to the sides of the shed than with the beam of the LSI. As per the intensity at the shed door, here are the pictures so you can judge it yourself. Of the Black and yellow 5 million light from Heartland, to my eyes it is barely 1 million, maybe 750,000 more likely. Yes, the LSI two million can do almost the same as the BOREALIS, but that light is much more compact, lighter and of incomparable quality in its components, the modified switch, reflector and battery carrier are a work of art and the power source are the best high current high capacity Nimhs in existence. The Contenders, from left to right; My red BOREALIS flashlight 1050 lumens, the 5 million Heartland of America black and yellow spotlight, the LSI Nite Tracker 2 million, and the Aid auto stores 1 million spotlight. ![]() And I am going to show the beamshots in the opposite sequence: Aid auto stores 1 million candlepower ![]() LSI Nite Tracker 2 million ![]() Heartland of America 5 million (The text explain what I think of this light) ![]() BOREALIS 1050 lumens rechargeable, 50 minutes run time. ![]() cheers Best regards, whitebear |

RE: F/S MAG 951 lumens flashlight
Although I didn't treat my Borealis like blackbear84 did on his website, I can personally tell you that it can handle anything. I accidentally dropped my Borealis head first on concrete. The drop was about 3 feet. I was scared that I cracked the lens or somehow damaged the bulb, but the Borealis was fine! I want to say that I had his optional new crenellated bezel equipped. That thing dug into the concrete. I wish I had taken photos, but I can guarantee you that it happened! Even though they are now made of aluminum instead of stainless steel, it is just as strong and its MUCH lighter. It is not as head-heavy. I love it! ![]() |

RE: F/S BOREALIS 951 lumens flashlight
I was wondering what technology you put into a Maglight that makes it worth $250 dollars? It's alot of money to spend on something that not an original design. I mean a lot of the reason the high end flashlights cost so much is all the R&D they put into creating an all new product. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just wondering why the price.
