I am thinking of buying a GPS this year. I have never used one hunting and am interested in getting your opinions on models, features, etc. Also, do you lose contact under foliage often?

I just bought a garmin venture this year. It does a pretty good
job. It will lose the signal in real thick cover. The magellan
sportrak seems to be a good unit though. My hunting partner has
one of them and his doesn't lose the signal at all. Get a GPS
with a helix antenna whatever you do. They receive signals better
than the patch antennas. Good luck.

I've had the Garmin GPS12XL for many years & it works great, even in heavy cover...I use it for deer & turkey hunting as well as fishing...basically, I don't leave home without it!!!!!!!!
