The next most inpotant things for me after my gun and ammo, would have to be my binocs, then my knife, then everything else in my day pack.

#1 thing in Fla. is a Therma-cell.if you don't have one where I hunt, you may as well not go.(you cant stay in a tree without it).

Since you said gear, in my area I'd have to agree with a navigation tool such as GPS or Compass. A knife would be right up there too!

I'd have to say a real good pair of warm, comfortable boots. because when my feet get cold. I'm history.

In order
compass
knife
some water
some food
rain gear
fire making gear
binocs
twine, string, cord

When I'm within shouting distance of some other hunters in my party I trim it way down. When I'm out alone I may have everything on the list as well as a hot seat.

Knowledge!!! If you don't know the habits of the deer in your hunting area, don't know how to judge your ranges, don't know your "limits", don't know how to control your scent, then you owe it us hunters to not hunt at all!! Without "knowledge", your knife, treestand, binocs, camo and arrow/bullets are all useless!!
