Read somewhere that the scope description must read : Fully Multicoated, next best is multicoated then fully coated. That said, what is the best Fully Multicoated Scope for $200?

RE: BEST $200 Scope?
etw - My choice is the Burris Fullfield II. I've got the 3x9 40mm matte finish with Ballistic Plex reticle... a range-finding type. This scope sells for $197... and you can get a free Burris spotting scope with it as well.
I have since recommended this scope to two hunting buddies of mine... and they are equally as happy with theirs. If your scope budget is limited, IMO you can't miss with a Burris Fullfield II. I did a side-by-side comparison with the counterpart Leupold Vari-X III... and the Burris won. Even my brother who is into astronomy and optics in general.... agreed that the Burris was noticeably brighter. |

RE: BEST $200 Scope?
Bushnell elite 3200 would fit into your budget and is an excellent little scope. I have owned several and not one hint of problems, only knock I can find on the elite is eye relief and styling of their 50mm objective models. You never said what cal of gun you plan on topping with the scope but from 3006 down it will be just fine for most people in eye relief. If it is a healthy kicker or magnum you may need or want a bit more!
Mounts are very important, the guys laugh when I put a $200 scope on with $75-100 mounting hardware but maybe that is why they have problems with shift & I don't! I only use leupold bases and rings, their are others that are equal but these have treated my very well so I stick with what I know works! Bonus is if I want to upgrade my scope I need not worry about what is holding it tight;) Good luck! |

RE: BEST $200 Scope?
Bushnell Elite 3200 with the firefly reticle. The glowing reticle works awesome giving you right up until the last of legal shooting hours to see and they are super clear. I can honestly say that I've never heard of anyone having a problem with them, including myself.

RE: BEST $200 Scope?
Like Skeeter said, make sure you don't skimp on scope rings. You will be extremely unhappy when you bump your scope and you don't full confidence that it's not where it's suppose to still be. Another option would be to save up for another year and put yourself into the $350-$500 range of scopes. I don't think you would be sorry for doing that. Plus if you think about it, you spend 400-500 on a good scope....it should be good for 10 years or more. It's a good investment to make if you do quiet a bit of hunting. I'm certainly not saying that a $200 won't get you the same results, but the scope will be better. Good luck.
