Back in 2004, I bought a used pair of Kales 8 x 30 off eBay for $300 which is Swarovski's sister company that has a lifetime warranty. These binoculars allowed me to get my elk at first light because my binoculars were better than the guide's pair. He could not see the elk in the dark timber and I could.
I have used these binoculars on my prairie dog hunt 2 years ago and had no problem seeing those little dog at over 600 yards.
BTW, over the years I have contacted Kales for replacement rubber weather end caps to keep rain & snow off the glass and they sent me replacements for free.

Even with good quality glass, prolonged glazing is bad for your eyes, and poor quality glass is even more so. Mid-range binoculars are good for the typical eastern or northern Midwest. The glass can be used up to n hours per day.
