DIY Thermacell pad and bottle refills?
Ok I've looked on youtube and refilling the butane seems simple and reliable enough. But my question is pads, according to what the vids on there say a mixture of 1part Permethrin to 5parts water, 5-10 drops on each pad is sufficient. There's also a recommendation of 1oz perm to 2-3oz of water and dropping the pads into the mixture then air dry and store in a ziploc bag.
Are these homemade/"recharged" mixtures and pads actually as effective as the new "fresh from the foil" pads from Thermacell? My swamp has skeeters that can mate Humminbirds so it's CRUCIAL that my Thermacell's work at 100% effectiveness!

LMAO so your skeeters need an airstrip and landing clearance like ours around here do huh Hatch? I've never used one of them Thermacell thingamabobs but I've been using Permethrin for years. Just use it on my clothes and my hat and the bugs pretty much stay away. I don't use it on anything that will be on my face so I use my leafy camo head net that has the skeeter netting. Keeps them outta my face pretty much.
