Hmmmmm Doing a search I see you are correct a little bit, but I found several Aluminium Ladder stands doing a brief search. I honestly thought they quit making the things out of steel since it's so heavy. Guess the assumation came from the powder coat being the same as they use on aluminium ones.

And those are just a few. I haven't bought one in a bit since I only use the one I own on a property that I don't have to hike in for a long distance. I hate the dang things honestly but I'm getting to darn old for a climber anymore and my knees are really starting to not like climbing sticks that I use for my hang on's. Guess I am going to have to break down and buy 4 or 5 and put them on my other places and just hope they are too darn much trouble to steal.

I built this stand and a simliar one using mostly trees trunks and one 4X4. I do not move my stands arund so I have permenant stands and they are productive year after year. This one cost me $125.00 in lumber, nails and screws ans is plenty big enough for two people standing or sitting on a chair or stool. picture show two sides of the stand and the camo cloth makes me prety much invisible to deer.

I'm correct a little bit, LOL! That's funny seeing as you put up three more links to try and prove your point and of all the stands shown in them (30+) there was only ONE in the first Sportsman Guide link that's made of aluminum! All the rest are steel and just by looking at the weights of them alone you should have known that! Hmmmm!!!

It's hard to get in to because there's no place to put your feet to turn around to sit down. No place to stand up, so it's not a all day stand. Not extremely sturdy for a big guy like me. But it's worth buying!!!.
