Red dot scope
I recently purchased a rockriver arms ar-15 with an eoteck red dot scope. I am new to this kind of scope and never used one before. Can someone give some pointers on it? Thank you

didn't the red dot come with instructions? If not try getting a owners manual from the company. I really like mine on my bow as I can turn down the intensity of the dot in the early morning and evenings low light. One my hunting partner bought you couldn't and in the late evening low light the dot covered the whole target so you didn't really know where you were aiming except the whole deer.

What specifically are you needing to know about it? The windage and elevation adjustments on EoTech's are usually well labeled.
Once zeroed, red dots are pretty straight forward, put the dot on the target, pull the trigger. You'll see SOME chasing drift if you have the dot too far out of the center, but the beauty of red dots is that they are tolerant of shifting your eye position.

Yes, i got instructions with the scope, but i just want to know are they only good for fairly close shooting or for longer ranges. For hunting purposes how would it compare with an ordinary scope
