Been working for me too - now 8+ years !

I figure I'll leave mine to my grandson. I probably won't wear it out in my lifetime.

I cut the meat with a knife and twist....head comes right off.

I've been using a Gerber folding saw with interchangeable blades from wood saw to bone saw for about 12 years and the blades are still good.
Paid about 15 bucks at WalMart.

I use the same thing. Had mine at least 10 years. Light, handy, effective. That's pretty much all I ask for in gear.

I use a hacksaw to remove the skull plate.

If backpacking it is an inexpensive and light weight model. If it is convenient I will use a good quality saw, but they are a bit heavy for a backpacker.

Always carry a spare blade!

Pretty easy to do both with a sharp blade on a hacksaw.

I use a Browning bone saw, but a whip saw works even better.
