Default GREAT IDEA !

i have a great idea for a new product pertaining to hunting. my questions are: has anyone ever had anything patented and how does one go from an idea to getting the product on the market ? if anyone has any experience with this i sure could use some insight. thank you for any help.

Unfortunately, In the world of patents, Money talks.

I suppose that the BEST piece of advice would be to stay away from the folks who do the " Do you have an invention?" commercials.

The next thing is to hire a patent attorney.

Then be prepared for manufacturing and marketing costs.

It takes a very long time to actually be awarded a patent, usually seven years or more...Thats why most items you buy say " patent pending" on them.

As dismal as it sounds, as often as not, the best thing you can do is; hire a patent attorney toconfirm that it IS in fact your idea, and sell the IDEA to a manufacturer.

dave ! thanx for the info. i had no idea it took 7 years to obtain a patent. that is a good idea to just sell the idea and maybe get royalties from it. i' m already busy enough i don' t need any more work right now. you wouldn' t happen to know bill jordan' s home phone number ? lol . have a great day !

I would say call an attorney and see what he says, most time the first visit is free.
