Is camo a must for deer hunting?

If you're going to get camo, check out some of the more open patterns (A.S.A.T., Predator, etc.). A lot of the camo, out there, looks great when you're sitting around shooting the breeze with your buddies but turns into a brown blob a few yards away.

My favorite camo, for about 50, is my old LL Bean "Main Guide Shirt" (red and black plaid or green and black plaid) and a pair of OD Green wool field pants. That was "the camo" in my day.
