I just thought of this today because its windy..snowin and cold as hell. Has ANYONE ever seen any testing for longjohns...stop laughin IM serious...we all run to the store and buy Under Armor like its the greatest thing since white toast.. I put on a pair of Polartec Kenyon longjohns today just because I have them and never wear them and they're great. MOre bulk than Under Armor but I swear they are warmer...
So where are the stats for Longjohns?
Under Armor
PolarTec
Duofold
Someone please tell me we are not getting sucked into UNder Armor advertising this whole time?
Who has done some type of heat loss/comparison with these insulated undergarments?

Gonna chime in here because I wore under armor for the first time today-got a long sleeve shirt for christmas.
Now, I also ski so I like polypropylene alot but then again I was happy w/ the cotton long johns i wore as a kid.
Any way, as soon as I put this shirt on, inside by the fire, I felt cold-instantly. Figured, well it's high tech, see what happens outside as I cleanup after our N'oreaster last night. After 45 min on the tractor I was way too cold, couldn't take it anymore came in and changed to polypro-felt warm as usual.
So-my question to your query: what is the deal w/ UA? based on today, I wouldn't spend my money on it.

Being I posted this I thought I would spend some time "looking" for the answer..Not at all what I expected to find
...The materials were tested on women and were tops only but I don’t see how/why that makes a difference, found it on www.supertopo.com/best/long-underware/-women-reviews
Here is the order they finished
Smartwool Midweight Crew
ArcTeryx RHO LT
Patagonia Capilene
Under armor base 2.0
Icebreaker
Found another site that really suggested Army Issue Polypropylene is outstanding...I can only attest I have a Army issue polypropylene hat that I find absolutely great...best part is this stuff is NOT expensive at all!!!
The main thing I found on Under Armor is it wicks well BUT AT THE EXPENSE OF LESS WARMTH...found this on several sites. So my days of under armor and their ridiculous prices are over..JUST my opinion!

thirty years ago according to modern legend. Why I just was testing some old cotton insulated underwear and also some old blue polypropylene underwear on my rebab hikes in the frigid cold. I'm even testing an old jone e handwarmer for endurance.
I wonder if I use them for hunting next year, and then get disbarred from the Sportsman Hunting Union for wearing unauthorized gear. I guess I just have to hide them under some wool pants and a Shetland wool sweater.
