Need help picking good hunting walkie talkies

skeeter,
I totally agree. In fact, I use a Motorola T6000 series unit almost exclusively for hunting in my area. However, the range is somewhat limited because of the hills and valleys. My suggestions above were for a situation where terrain was going to be where terrain was working against the individual and expected transmission distance was more than a mile or two.

I use Uniden UHF: Small, lightweight and good for 3 miles. (More on flat or unobstructed terrain.) In heavy bush they are down to 1 mile and they don' t get round corners too good. However I am very pleased with performance. Price about $50 a set. (1.5 watt) $100 for a more powerful unit (3 watt) And a Base unit for your truck $200 (5 watt)
