What does anybody know about the trijicon red dot sight?
I see they are available in 4 MOA and 8 MOA. Does this mean that at 100 yards the dot is 4" in diameter on the 4 MOA and 8" in diameter on the 8 MOA?
Thanks for any help
Dan

I used to be a Supervisor in the Trijicon ACOG Department. Without getting into all the MOA mumbo jumbo...The difference between the two is simply size of the dot. The smaller 4 MOA dot is better for longer shots (so the dot doesn't cover the target). The larger 8 MOA dot is better for shorter shots (because the bigger red dot is easier to pick up for fast shots).
I would say the "break point" where you would want to go from 8 MOA to 4 MOA is around 100 meters. If you're using it for a handgun I would definitely go 8 MOA. With a rifle it could be 4 MOA or 8 MOA depending on the range you want to shoot at.

Hope the info helped!

I ended up getting the 8 MOA red dot trijicon and installed it on my S&W model 629 44 mag with the 5 inch barrel. I had to order an extra shim to get it to sight in. I love it, small, lightweight and I can honestly think about taking a whitetail at 50 yards, something I wouldn't have tried with just the iron sights.
It was a great addition to my revolver.
Thanks
Dan
