I like my nikon monarch 10x42 binocs, and rangefinders have come a long way since I bought mine, but I have my eye on Bushnell with the ARC system. as far as gps units go, they can be as tricky or as simple as you want. I have a garmin etrex(a base model) which you can pick up for 100$ or less some places. The new model of it is the etrex venture that has a color screen and all that. If your just looking to mark camp, and a downed animal or a certain spot on a mountain, then don't blow 500$ buck on a gps.
Good luck in CO, I'm green with envy. You bowhunting or rifle?
