I'm in the market for some quality rain gear for early deer season and spring turkey hunting. I've heard good things about Browning, any other good ones out there?

Whatever you get, make sure it is Gore-tex lined. I've been gotten wet wearing G-tex wannabes. I've never been disappointed by Goretex. there is a reason you pay more for it.

Take a look at pella I had a set of that on a spring bear hunt in 2002. cold, wind and rain allmost the whole week and we had to boat to all the stands. I never got wet. I gave that set to my guide as part of his tip. I now have Cabela's mt050 pants and jacket and it is equally good.

It would be tough to beat Cabelas rain gear w/goretex although other manufacturers make quality stuff as well...Pella...Browning and a couple of other brands make outstanding rain gear.

I have a friend who went on a guided hunt in British Columbia who's outfitter told him NOT to bring Gore-tex with him. He said the area was too wet for Gore-Tex and recommended some English made rain gear.

I have used my 10x -goretex raingear in both the mountains of northern B.C. and on the coast of B.C. in very heavy downpours and I was as dry as anyone in camp each time. Those that used non-breathable raingear were wetter than the rest because they were soaked in sweat from hiking in the mountains. The earlier goretex garments did in time develop leaks along the seams but those problems have long since been corrected. My own goretex gear is now over ten years old and will have to be replaced soon as the fabric is getting badly worn but it still keeps me dry in the rain.

Cabelas MTO50 is the best I' ve used and keeps me dry in all day rainstorms. It breathes and that is so important, wet from outside or wet from inside is still wet.The plastic rainware lets you stew in your own juices.Good gore tex is the way to go in my book.
