extremely well. i was first introduced to one this past year. my uncle got one and we were hunting turks and we were getting eaten up like no 2marrow. my uncle busted out this lil thing (thermocell) and said watch this. he put it on the ground next to use and within 5 min no skeets or anything else was around us at all. they work extremely well IMO and are well worth the money.

I don't leave home without it.
Our season starts Aug 15 and its very hot down here.
I sit back in the swamps with shorts and no shirt and don't get bit until I turn the thing off.

x3 the thermacell works!We had a gathering few weekends back and were getting hammered, putout a couplethermacells on the patio...enjoyment returned:).

They work in the northfor black flies and skeeters, BUT they do not work on gnats!! I tried it, and they just landed on the thermocell, and danced a jig!! I contacted the company, and they said they are working on a scent pad for gnats!! When that happens, I'll be very satisfied with the product!!
