RE: What multi-tool?

just get a name-brand tool (Leatherman, Gerber, Scharade, even saw a Craftsman that looked good, etc). I have a Scharade (which I got at Kmart, I think) and it was the best $45 I ever spent.

Alright well the guy at Sportsmans Warehouse talked me into the leatherman charge xti. It is absolutely sweet, probably the best $100 I'll ever spend. Thanks for yalls input.

stay away from the ones that the blades dont lock. my brother had a leatherman years ago and it bit him bad. i gave him a locking one. you can get them off ebay in new condition at great prices too.

I have had a LeatherMan for years, but a few years back I bought a S.O.G. Multi Tool and it is much better than the LeatherMan.

The leatherman is a nice multitool(I have 2 Supertools) & they come with a 25year warranty.R.C. whats wrong with Wal-mart?

They have added some new stuff to the Wave. That would be my choice for sure. However as stated above, pick the one with the options you need. I use mine mostly for the neddle nose pliar and the screw drivers. Saves me a lot of steps around the job. The new Wave will take advantage of the 21 piece accessory bit set as will the Charge and the new Leatherman line of knives. I just picked up one of those and Sportsmans Warehouse had the bit set on hand. Life is good for us handymen.:D

My vote is for the Leatherman as a first choice.
I've still got my Original in one of my go-bags. Works great even though I had to bang out the sides after it got run over by a dumptruck on a job site. Have a newer one to also. Not the Wave, the Supertool(?).
Also have a Schrade in another bag, that I picked up on a fishing trip to Montana to make up for leaving the Leathermans at home.
There's nothing wrong with it either, but the next one I get will be a Leatherman. Just comes down to what you need for the job, as to what model to get. But as said earlier, why get the one with a guthook, you'll just end up clogging up the whole tool with hair and junk.
