rhino 520 gps
i was wondering if anyone has used the rhino 520 or 530 gps/ radio. i have a radio and a gps thought an all in one unit would be better. i'm sure the gps works well. i hunt in a mountainess area in maine and need to know how the radio works. thanks.

I have the 530's both the radio and gps work great. the map that is in the unit does not show me much, but you can order the mapsourse topo from garmin which will allow you to download a topo map to the units.

RE: rhino 520 gps
Just a few added comments about the 530. i do not keep them on all the time so they did last me for the whole week in upstate new york last week. I was also using them for geocaching and they got me within 3 yards of what i was looking for each time. and the last thing i would like to say is that i left a unit with my brother while i was hiking, there was a large mountain between us, distance about four miles, and he was able to not only talk to me, but keep track of me as i was hiking along. oh, i downloaded maps of upstate new york into the unit, covered everything from just below syracuse all the way up to canada and still had room for more. i really like these units.

The battery life will completely vary, and depend solely on how you use it. On my unit I like to adjust the settings frequently, and caneasily get well over 16 hours of battery life. Settings like WAAS, Electronic Compass, Radio, GPS, Battery Save Mode, Backlight, etc,are all features which will vary your battery life. If you use your unit sensibly, battery life is very good, considering you have both a GPS and Radio in your hand.
