I have some called Predator sniper styx that I found recommended on a varmint hunting website and I am very pleased with them.

I made my own with the help of the following web site.

I have my own woodshop, so it was very easy for me to do.

My uncle uses one of those golf-ball retrievers with the top cut out of the circle. It works for him and he was able to find one at Wal-Mart for under $5.00.

EEmer almost has it right...
In 1966 I had the first pair of shooting sticks in the state of Penna..or perhaps anywhere for that matter..
I killed thousands of groundhogs off them and when I moved to Montana i killed a lot of deer and 8 or 9 elk off them. I would rather forget my binos than my shooting sticks.

Here you go--
You buy 2 dial rods-oak preferably--3/8ths in or 1/2 or even 3/4s if you want.
Three feet or three and a half-you can always cut them to fit later.
Drill each end on both rods and screw in a dry wall screw in each hole.
Then-lay on the living room floor and set your gun in the V.. holding it with your fingers-or just eyeball it and drill a hole through both dial rods, usually about 10-12 inches up.
Then, put a 1/4 inch bolt through both rods-with a lock washer on the end and a regular washer in the middle.
Now...you hacksaw/bolt cut-the drywall screws off leaving a sharp end.
You can either just cut the ends that u will use prone -or do all 4 ends.
Just be careful walking with a friend beside you cause you cant stick him in the leg if your'e not careful_Lol
Oh-sorry- I usually stain them both first before I start...
Now- with practice you will be able to set them up quickly with one hand and unlike bipods-you can elevate or lower one end very quickly on uneven ground.
In the prone position they are very stable and steady..
I shot a cow elk one season at a ranged 427 yds and was as steady as a rock..
Oh, another point-- On the bolt that goes through the middle-- cut the excess bolt off that sticks out from the lock nut-then hammer it lightly so the nut can never come off-it did on me once and i never wanted that to happen again.
I had one pair that lasted me 12 yrs..
