RE: GPS

I bought the Garmin Etrex Legend and was a little disappointed b/c I was not aware that I would have to buy additional software ($100) to have a somewhat decent GPS....For my hunting purposes (marking a few waypoints & marking home) can anyone advise me of a less advanced unit w/these features? Thanks.

Garminator,

...not that I know of! I assume that is how the GPS manufacturers "get you" when you buy a GPS. You know, a Magellan, Garmin, or Lowrance can do this, this, this and that, but to really use the cool features, you have to spend $$$ on software CD's.

I have a Garmin eTrex Legend and really like it. It does everything I need and then some. One of the days I'll spring for the $99 dollar Topo CD and install it. I've already hooked up the PC cable and uploaded/downloaded waypoints and it is really cool to do.
