Very cold weather I have a pac boot. Lacrosse ice kings. As long as your not walking real far my feet have yet to get cold on sub zero days. With 1 pair of socks.

The newer army Micky mouse boots seem good. The new ones have a valve on the side that can let out the moist air built up inside the boot. They are relatively cheap and very ugly. But if you are sitting for long periods, your feet will still get cold.

But if you are sitting for long periods, your feet will still get cold. okcmco The valve is actually for high altitude use - like when the wearer goes up in a plane, to release the pressure inside the boot. They don't have anything to do with moisture release. The beauty of these vapor barrier boots is that they cannot get moist air inside of them inside the insulating part. They have a complete rubber inside (vapor barrier) , a thick felt insulation layer and a complete rubber outside. That's why they are a bench mark for extreme cold - not only are they warm, but although your feet will sweat, the sweat won't get into the insulation.Although yoru feet might be wet inside the boot, they won't get cold because the insulation is not affected.Your feet will indeed sweat though. I've found (been using them for 25 years) that it's always a good idea to bring extra socks and simply change your socks during the day. Although I've generally not bothered for a normal 6 - 8 hour day, even though it would have been more comfortable. If you're wearing them for a long time, several days in a row, you better make sure you let your feet air dry regularly or they will prune up and actually get very sore (needles and pins feeling). I've used them for many long periods sitting or standing still for 10+ hours and my feet have never gotten cold. I've used them for more active stuff for days on end as cold as -40 and my feet have't gotten cold. I do believe there are better boots nowadays, but 25 years ago these were by far the best, and still are a benchmark. |

The Mickey mouse boots are the only boots that Ive used where my feet didnt get cold. I have 1000grm Rockys w/ Gortex which arent bad. Nothing compares to the Mickeys though. The do suck for hikiing so if you walk alot they arent good.
Dont buy the Sportsmans guide re-makes of them. They arent the same. Ive had 3 different Sportsman guide brand boots and all have been junk. I think nothing ruins hunting more than cold feet. It makes me fidget and just become miserable. Ive never tried using the hand warmers inboots or those huge boot blankets though. One looks like itll be uncomfortable and one looks way to bulky to carry into the woods. |

Being in the Army, and recently stationed in Korea, where it gets COLD!!!, I was issued some Bates Extreme cold Weather boots, that were a Goretex, black leather boot, that came with 2 pairs of insulated booties for the boot. When you kept those clean and dry, your feet stayed warm as well!!! They kept my feet warm in temperatures down to 38 below zero( counting windchill)!! Now for CO, I have a pair of Irish Setter Big Game trackers with 800grams thinsulate. They seem to do a good job of keeping my feet warm. The most important thing is to keep your feet dry!!! take extra socks and change your socks if your feet start to sweat!!!!

ORIGINAL: madboarman it doesn't matter bro, spend 5 bucks to 200000 bucks on a pair of boots with 999999 thenselate and 5 inch of thick cotton laced inside, your toes are still going to get cold. I've been there done that and have the pic. I worn the "best" boots with literally 4 pair of socks and my feet still froze, the best thing is to just deal with the pain. They are light, completely waterproof, and you only need a regular pair of socks. They ran about $120. Just got back today from hiking 5 miles in almost a foot of snow. My feet were dry and toasty all day.  |

There are boots that literally will keep your feet very comfortable for many, many hours at -20F and colder with just a thin wool sock inside. I've used them! They are the white "vapor barrier" boots. (aka, bunny boots, mickey mouse boots). I bought a pair of Cabelas for my brother - rated to something ridiculous like -80 and having worn them at around 0, I'm absolutely sure they're warmer than my VB boots and much lighter. So your advice isn't good. You're probably joking anyway and I apologize for being humor impaired. |

Irish Setter Versa Trax. These things are sweet. Actually I've never had any problems with any boots from Irish Setter, 100% satisfied.

it depends i think on how you like to hunt. if your going to sit on stand i dont think you can beat sno paks like sorels, but if your like me and move around a lot any good insulated walking boot should do. But make sure they fitttttt! Check them at purchase time with socks you intend on using[most guys ive seen with cold feet have boots that dont fit,too tight]a pair of those powdered hand warmers also is a good way to cheat a little, last 8-10 hrs and are small and light enough that if positioned well you wont even know their there
