i use a variable weaver (1.5 to 4X) on my blackhawk in 45 colt. holds up to some very hot loads. picking from the 2 names you listed i would go with the burris. i have not used eithers hand gun scopes but prefer the burris on my rifles.

I like Burris for handgun scopes. I have two 2-1/2x7's one on a 14" 7-30Waters Contender and one on a S&W revolver .44mag. DX.

get a fixed power leupold 4x or 2x. i like the 4x28. 20mm scopes dont gather enough light for me.

Was lookign for one myself for my .44mag. Scheels All Sports recomended Tasco Red Dot as a lower end, Nikkon Red Dot for Medium End, and Leopold for top of the line. I know burris makes a hell of a rifle scope, not sure about the pistol scopes. I have yet to see a scope as clear as the Burris with light gathering lenses.
