For me this depends on the background, and what sort of terrain. But lets say moderate cover behind you, and flat ground. I usually go about 15-20 feet up. 5-6 tree steps.

Another member asked this very same question, you may be interested in looking for it with in the deer hunting forum, a few members answered the question how high should a tree stand be?

Depending on the terrain you are hunting in the weather conditions and your own comfort zone.

I generaly take my stand to the very limmit at times more that 35ft.
this also depends on the size and strangth of the tree as well.

As I answered in the forum I listed, I have taken my stand up only 7-10 feet to have deer sniff me out, and on the next day under the same conditions, taken my stand up 20-25ft and taken the same deer, he didn't smell me.

Good luck this season.

You ae probably high enough, if you have some branches around you to help break up your outline. Do all you can for scent control before you go out.
