Default Finally Got Him!

So from the first time I saw this hog he was on the hit list. He is smart and barely came. I think the only time he would come is when a sow was in heat, by what I saw in the pictures lol. Stick around for a week at most and then gone. I started calling him Ghost. So slowly but surely he had been messing up especially the last week. He almost always came around 930 pm for a week, then as the days went on he started coming earlier and earlier. I got into the stand at 640pm yesterday, temperature was in the low 90s, so I was sweating pretty bad, it sucked. I could hear the hogs squealing and grunting to my left shortly after getting settled in, they couldn't be to far maybe 300 yards. At about 730pm, they were right in front of me maybe 100 yards away but couldn't see them, just hear them. At about 8pm, they had gone and past me and went another 100 yards to my right. Finally, at 810, they started high tailing it and the first little one I saw at 815pm. There were at least 10 that showed up including the nice multicolored one I missed 2 weeks ago. The big hog was just dominating all the other hogs, pushing and all that cool stuff so he could eat. I saw the cutters on him through the scope and knew it was Ghost. My brother compared the pictures and thinks it the same one. I'm thinking he is right. He was standing dead in front of me with a little quartering. You can see the where it hit in picture. Pretty much of everything was destroyed inside him. We didn't have a scale, but he is definitely over 200lbs, we're thinking around 210 220 based on other big hogs we got. I decided not to do a full mount because one cutter was smaller than the other (even though the small one is still decent), if they were the same size, he would have been put on the wall. I am doing a Euro mount though. I'll post other pictures of the skull later, which shows the cutters better. This is number 5 after 1 month of hunting this spot.

This would have been a great video if I had one lol. But story telling is just efficient.

Waidmannsheil!

They can get pretty careful, smart and skittish. That is how they live past being a youngun or adolescent. I've been amazed at how canny they can be when they get around 3 years old and older.

I usually keep their teeth. They call them Waffen (weapons) here.

Or have the hide (and hair) made into a throw rug if it is nice enough. One of those man to man presents you give to your best buds. And it's always fun to hear from the women "you aren't putting that thing in my house" LOL.

Here are the cutters. I'm not sure what you said Mudder. Lol. The shield on him was crazy! I know now what the shield is first hand.

Waidmannsheil! Roughly translated means, Congratulations on a successful hunt (paraphrased, it really doesn't translate).

Those Waffen are nice, I'd put them on a plaque with the date.

I'm doing a European Mount. So it will go on the wall when it's done.
